Pan American Saxophone Serial Numbers

This page contains a list of Pan American serial numbers for woodwinds. This serial number list applies to saxophones. It is not known if it also applies to other woodwinds.

How this list came about
This serial number list is a result of hard work by Kevin McKnight. It is a work in progress, so future updates are possible. It is based on serial numbers collected from February through November 2014. The sample size was 995. It was created based on Pan American saxophones.

A few remarks
First, there is some confusion about serial numbers starting with a "P" and either followed or not followed by a dash ("-"). The easiest way to determine whether the "P" serial is a 1971 or a 1920's instrument is perhaps this: If there is a model name somewhere, most probably "Director", then it is a 1971 model. If it has "Pan American" somewhere on the instrument, than it is most certainly NOT a 1971 instrument.

Further about "P" serials: these run concurrent with this list. So if you have an instrument with serial number P23456, then look under 23456, without the P.

The serial numbers in a particular year start with the indicated serial number. So for example, serial numbers for the year 1921 run from 19167 to 25333 (start year 1922 minus 1).
